Leeds Private Rented Sector (PRS)
Leeds Private Rented Sector (PRS) developments are catching up with London and Manchester, with new schemes emerging around the City Centre and especially in the financial and legal hub along Wellington Street (LS1).
9,000 new homes are needed in Leeds over the next few years to support a growing population. The PRS now accounts for 20% of homes in England.
Major Developments in Leeds PRS:
1. Former Yorkshire Post Building
The site has planning permission for an 18-storey development containing 242 flats. Work was due to begin in Autumn 2017.

2. Hume House
Set to become Leeds’ tallest skyscraper, this 40-storey building near the First Direct Arena is planned to house 800 student accommodation rooms.
3. Radius on Whitehall Road
Radius is going for planning permission to build 224 apartments and 5,300 sq ft of commercial space on the ground floor.
4. South Bank Mixed Use Scheme
5 acres around Globe Road and Water Lane are planned to be transformed by a £350 million development delivering apartments, bars, and offices.
5. Mustard Wharf
Owned by Legal & General, Mustard Wharf is planned to deliver 250 apartments alongside 7,200 sq ft of office space.
6. Former International Swimming Pool Site (Lisbon Street)
The 1.12-hectare site is on the market and open for mixed-use development proposals.
